dc.description.abstract | The research study ought to identify the effect of sit down strikes on the production of services at the Lamu County Government headquarters offices. It was also meant to identify the impact of slow down strikes on organizational performance lastly the research topic was also meant to identify picketing and the effects it has on organizational performance. The theoretical framework was derived from functional and conflict theories. The target population for the research study comprised 100 employees comprising senior officers and subordinate staff in Lamu county government headquarters offices. A sample size is a subsection of a population. The researcher applied random sampling to get sample size of 15 employees from total 100 employees at Lamu County Government headquarters. These 15 employees are above the 10% of population that is suggested by Mugenda & Mugenda (2013) to be acceptable as a sample. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from the target population. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used. The study revealed that sit down strikes lowered the rate of productivity .it indicated that 80 percent of the respondents supported the finding. The study indicated that when employees conduct the sit down strikes the operations within the enterprise ceases to continue because the employees will not be willing to perform the tasks assigned. Furthermore when operations fail to take place within the enterprise it has a major impact on the productivity of the organization. The organization will be subjected to major economic loss for example low competitive power and low profit generation. The study also revealed that both picketing and slow down strikes impact the organization in a negative manner. Similar to sit down strikes, both slow down and picketing strikes jeopardize the operations of the enterprise. Also 90 percent of the respondents agree to the phenomenon. | en_US |
