dc.description.abstract The research study focused on the factors contributing to low class attendance among students at the beginning of the semester at Gretsa University. The study however based on the fact that the institution has it's official opening dates on every semester but majority of students do not show up as expected. The hypothesis of the study is null. The study will be guided on the objectives which was to determine the factors contributing to low class attendance among students at the beginning of the semester, to determine the effects of financial constraints on low class attendance among students, to examine the effects of peer pressure on low class attendance among students and also to establish the influence of timetable issues on low class attendance among students. The study also has literature review which has concerns on factors contributing to low class attendance among students at the beginning of the semester, theories used in the study and also identification of the research gap in investigating the factors contributing to low class attendance. The study area is Gretsa University and therefore the target population involved the students. Stratified random sampling and simple random sampling was employed depending on different schools. The data collection techniques used included the use of questionnaires which was administered to the students and also observations whereby included monitoring of student's attendance in classes. Data collected was therefore analyzed and presented on a graph, tables and pie chart based on the variables which included financial constraints, peer pressure and timetable issues. Finally, there was the summary of the findings, conclusion and recommendations of the research study which therefore will help in the further studies. en_US
