dc.description.abstract The mining sector is a highly profitable undertaking that can give a big percentage of contribution to GDP. Despite that it is also a capital and labor intensive venture. It requires a lot of money to undertake and complete the process, starting from prospecting and exploration all the way to development. Despite all that, it creates many job opportunities for all sectors of the economy. It also brings about foreign exchange. In mining, there is small scale mining which is technically referred to as artisanal mining. This type of mining is less capital intensive since it is small scale. It can be used as a vehicle for women and youth economic empowerment in the country, thus serving the problem of joblessness. The main objective of the study is to determine the influence which artisanal mining as entrepreneurship venture can create opportunities for citizens in the country. The drive towards technological advancement is inevitable hence need to incorporate it in artisanal mining. en_US
