dc.description.abstract The research project was based on impact of parent participation on learner’s academic performance in public secondary schools in Mwingi West Sub County. The core objectives of research project includes; to analyze the provision of peaceful home atmosphere, to find out how maintenance of teacher parent relationship affects the performance of learners and to examine how family support affects the performance of pupils in public secondary schools in Mwingi West Sub County .The research design employed for the study was descriptive survey design .The population targeted consist of instructors, paternities and pupils whereby only seven schools out of sixty eight schools were sampled to give information to be used in data analyzation.in mwingi west sub – county, kitui county, KenyaThe sampling technique that was exercised was the use of random sampling. Questionnaires were used as the investigation instruments which were issued to the targeted residents so as to collect the appropriate information. The data collected was then analyzed using the computer software S.P.S.S. Researcher also established that it is very significant for the parent to maintain teacher parent relationship simply because according to the investigation that parent who had good relationship with the teachers their children had good performance compared to those who had not. Parent should be willing to support their children in ways like paying school fees for them so that they will always be present in school hence this will lead to good academic performance. The composition of the population that was targeted by the researcher was parents, teachers and student from sampled schools in mwingi west Sub County. Sample size refers to quantitative number of the respondents that researcher has found important to use in the study (Mugenda, 2018). Sample size for the study consists of the six hundred and eighty subjects including teachers, parents and students.. In this case reliability was done using test re test procedure so as to help to get the accuracy of the questionnaires. Different types of sampling methods were used to choose the subjects. Random sampling was used in selecting teachers. Stratified sampling was used to select secondary schools found in kitui west Sub – County, purpose sample as well was suitable to use for the case of the parents. Following the first objective to investigate how peaceful home atmosphere influence student academic performance the investigator found that most parents had set home rules regarding study time and time to be spent on social media which resulted to good academic performance of their children. Setting Study room was also found to be most effective for learners as it creates pleasant learning atmosphere. Researcher also established that it is very significant for the parent to maintain teacher parent relationship simply because according to the investigation that parent who had good relationship with the teachers their children had good performance compared to those who had not. Parents are therefore urged to maintain good relationship with teachers through involving themselves in educational activities like visiting days as well, as parents meeting. Under third objective of the research the investigator concluded that most parents had tried to support their children in areas like provision of learning material as well as payment of school fees to ensure that their learner are not sent home daily but remain in class to get quality education hence leading to good academic performance. en_US
